They think it’s all over…
After nearly 4 years of planning, its finished – 10 days of fun, challenges and adventure all over.
Thank you to everyone who helped make CD08 the fantastic success it was, from the staff to the off site activities teams, but most of all to the participants who came along with an open mind, ready to challenge themselves and to form new friendships with people from the other side of the world.
If you want to keep in touch with your new friends, join the Message Board by clicking the link at the top of the page.
After dancing, singing, running, driving, playing, swinging, sliding, trekking, hiking, eating, drinking, walking, scrambling, falling, talking, floating, sinking, swimming, shooting, sledging, sailing, drumming, bouncing, branding and just being at Campdowne 2008, we thank you.
Look out for news on the Photo CD that will be available to buy shortly, just a small matter of selecting the best images from over 11,000 we have stored!
All the printed editions of The (every other) Daily Beagle are now available for download in full colour here.
Also in case you were asleep and missed it – we are RECORD BREAKERS!!
It took more than 72 hours, 20 people and 7 sewing machines to sew together the total of 549 scarves to form the 21m wide World’s Largest Scout Scarf. So thank you to all the participants and staff who brought scarves with them from all over the world, and to the Deputy Chief Scout for ‘donating’ his when he visited the event.
The scarf was laid out as a traditional Scout Necker with a 30cm woggle and more than fifty people were able to stand inside it forming the ‘neck’!

Campdowne
Campdowne was the first UK International Scout and Guide Camp of the new centenary of Scouting
Nearly 2000 participants came from across the UK as well as 22 countries around the world.
All London and Kent Scouts and Guides could take part in their own locally managed international camp at Downe Scout Activity Centre.
During the course of the 10 day event, Scouts and Guides had the opportunity to take part in over 50 different fun and adventurous activities.
One of the highlights of Campdowne was when everybody worked together to create a brand new Guinness World Record by making the Worlds Largest Scout Scarf.
The young people and their Leaders camped in a beautiful woodland site, less than 16 miles from the centre of London.
Campdowne provided a unique opportunity to meet new friends from all over the world. |
