Campdowne Welcomes You
On behalf of the CD08 Organizing Team, I would like to welcome you to our website. We are less than 7 months away from the event and the momentum is building. If you have been with us before for the Campdowne experience we look forward to you joining us again, if you are a first timer – come along and sample this unique international camp.

As this is the first time Campdowne has been run as a Scout Association HQ event we have made some changes, some noticeable and others behind the scenes. However I want to stress that the essence of Campdowne, it’s homely feel will still be the same.

CD08 will see a return to all the camping at the event being brought back within the boundaries of the main site, setting the three enlarged subcamps in both woodland and open grassland. It is this woodland experience that gives Campdowne participants the feeling of being at an international camp with a local intimate atmosphere.

If you want to experience an unforgettable ten days - book your place now and I’ll see you there!

Our Theme & Subcamps
For those of you who haven’t joined our Message boards (you know who you are!), the theme for Campdowne 2008 will be ‘New Horizons’. We want to focus on Discovery, Exploration & Adventure. Whether you follow in the footsteps of Shackleton, or dive to new and un-chartered waters like Cousteau, almost every great explorer or adventurer embodies qualities we learn every day from Scouting and Guiding.
On this theme we are pleased to announce the names of our Subcamps and their respective Leaders. We have Drake Subcamp led by Paul Cosgrave, Tenzing Subcamp led by Ann Beard and Raleigh Subcamp led by Martin Bain.
Once the Subcamp allocations are made we will setup an area on the Message Board for you to chat and ask questions.
